I haven't posted my movie thoughts on here in a long time! Might as well get back into it. :D

Spoiler free.

:star: The Batman :star:

I think this is probably my favorite Batman movie. True, it's not as technically sound at a Christopher Nolan film, but this one I found (personally) to be more entertaining. There's a LOT to love about this one: no origin story. This is just a chronicle in Batman's life. The writers assume, rightfully, that 99.9% of the people seeing a Batman movie know his origin story. Thank gosh.

Moreover, Batman does... detective stuff! There's always a lack of Batman doing detective work in movies. But in this one, my favorite scene is just when he's working through the crime scene with the police. I could've sat there and and watched a whole detective Batman movie without violence, to be honest haha. But I'm old, so there.

I loved that Batman was soft spoken. What a brilliant change of pace.

This movie has its own little flaws, but nothing big enough to make me hiss at the screen. So, go and enjoy!

I love a good bad Roland Emmerich movie. From the moment the trailers came out, I was just like: yeahhh, I'm gonna see this trash. And I did. And I giggled internally the whole way through.

Funny enough, it didn't have as many needless deaths as the usual Emmerich film--I think they were aiming for a more family-friendly affair? Weird. With this one they tried to combine disaster film with action/adventure... and of course it didn't work in this case. The movie wasn't fun enough, or cool enough to pull that off.

It has some great unintentionally funny moments I think y'all who enjoy bad movies will like.

Also, what was up with the foreign exchange student? She had nothing to do with anything!

Fully recommended for bad movie lovers. Everyone else stay clear!

:star: Shadow in the Cloud :star:

This movie was very good... until it wasn't. I think this one slipped pretty well under the radar, so I'll tell you the basic plot: A woman is sent onboard a plane during WWII with a confidential task. The first thirty or so minutes was GREAT. They have nowhere to put her during takeoff so they shove her in the ball turret where she gets trapped... and she sees fleeting glimpses of a monster taking apart the plane (yes, yes Twilight Zone. It's okay, we know.) And she's conversing with all these men onboard the craft just getting to know them through the communications system because she can't see them.

After that, there's a dumb twist and it becomes a bad action movie. *shrug*.

It felt like someone had written an amazing, subtle script that at some point that got gutted and twisted into a mediocre movie. Booo.

Worth watching for the first part of the film, and then shaking your head when it all goes wrong.

Another WWII movie! Based on a real life Olympic distance runner who becomes a prisoner of war after his plane crashes. I was mainly interested in this one because it was directed by Angelina Jolie: I wanted to see how she does from behind the camera. Plus, war movies directed by women always have a different touch. And let me say: She did a fine job! I wouldn't mind seeing more from her. There's some real skill there.

And the movie was very good. It lacks the punch of other war movies, and I think that's because they decided to make it PG13. Despite that, we still get to feel our main characters challenges and sorrows even without the use of blood and R-rated violence.

I recommend this movie for a slightly older audience who's okay with a well-made and not-very-bloody war movie.

Hey guys, I've been crazily behind on everything because I'm in the process of buying a house and getting married at the same time, lol. Nobody told me being an adult had so much paperwork 🤔 and meetings 😫

Anyhoo, since I'm behind on commenting and even just looking at art in general, feel free to post a link to a recent artwork in your gallery for me to look at! If you don't have anything recent, post a link to one of your recent favorites you really like. Or both. Both is good :D Maybe I can pick a few DDs from you guys~ and leave some comments for y'all as well~

What's up?

1 min read

I haven't made a journal post in over a year, wow!

Life got a little hectic for me for a while--namely because I had a personal tragedy; not a death, but basically someone had to be removed from life, which was very sad and kind of traumatic to be honest.

So I was distracted for a while, but all is good now.

I've still been doing art, but it's mostly been traditional so I haven't taken the time to upload anything. Pfff. So lazy.

I'm *hopefully* going to start updating Jupiter and The Chronicles of Dru again. I already drew a Jupiter page, but I want to get a few more under my belt before posting.

ALSO. AI art is pissing me off. Not because it exists... whatever. But because I have to sift through 800 AI images while looking for Daily Deviations. Sheesh.

Hey guys. Sorry for the absence and... lack of posting anything. Been going through some health issues.

Anyhoo! I've had some stories that I've been wanting to post, but I also wanted to illustrate them. Seeing as how I've already got plenty on my plate, I finally realized I can actually commission some of my fellow artists to illustrate it. (That's right. Actually pay people. None of that 'exposure' crap people try to trick you into. I went through all that when I thought I was going to be a paid artist. Blegh. Your art is worth money!)

But my question is, since this site is fairly dead these days, how many of y'all are still taking commissions? I'd prefer to pay some of my watchers rather than surfing around, trying to find people.

The story I want illustrated will be one starring this wizard fly and leerg:

Felix the Fly Wizard
Frowndor the Leerg

And I'm not looking for super-duper expert lvl 2000 artists. I'm looking for people who're novice to intermediate skill who simply put effort and love into their work. After all, I'm no expert myself. Plus, I kinda want that quirky rawness of beginners in art.

SO. If you're interested in illustrating for these two characters (and I few others I haven't put up reference sheets for) for moneys, just leave a comment below with a link to your commission page. (I'm willing to work with a wide range of prices, so don't be scared to share!)

Or, if you know people who're looking for work, feel free to tag them in the comments.
